The Little Things

What makes up who we are? Sure theirs, nature vs nurture to attend to the results of who we are. However for all intended purposes of healthy, walking, breathing humans we are all created equal, if you strip away all of life’s complexities. But what makes them stay who they are and where their future will be held?

My answer is an experience. An experience that grabs hold of their existence and bends their current perception of life in such a way that it drives them to make a change that will ultimately steer them in a different direction. For us to alter even the littlest of things is incredibly hard to really change. One would say anything worthwhile in life is hard, then one would conclude that our ability to grow to better ourself would be a hard thing to do.

To me this idea is clear, I must change the little things to affect the larger things in life, do the things I have always been afraid to do. For the growth and wisdom lies in the experience those lessons behold behind those doors I have not opened. I feel this excitement and consciousness I choose today will reflect and improve my actions tomorrow.

The Mind Bends

The mind bends in different ways when life brings an unknown experience. Growth simply implies a period of time, while wisdom combines perception, knowledge and growth to produce a desired outcome.

An example that comes to mind to describe when the mind bends, is trying to explain the effects of seeing the Grand Canyon to someone who has never been. Although that person may have seen pictures or video of the Grand Canyon, describing the actual experience is very difficult if not impossible to fully communicate. It is said that a picture contains a thousand words, however an experience cannot be explained by that picture.

Too often in times of adversity the lesson is lost by the overwhelming existence of our surroundings. The experience it self forces us to look in other ways we never thought to see. This opportunity to learn is available to us all the time, and is what I hope to premeditate by my exclusion of our societies largest depressant, alcohol.

My actions are to motivate and drive my passions in life. To bring photography, travel, life experiences, improvement of professional development and the overall health and well being of mind, spirit and body to the forefront of focus in life. In writing about my unknown experience I feel my communication is imperative to provide any result or finding from the experiment.

Without communication it would be impossible to provide a basis for my progress and ultimately provide a means of failure in the end. Communication to my peers and those that mean the most to me is really the driving force to creating change. Here on this blog I will attempt to free write once a week to explain and most of all share my thoughts thru the experience.

This will not be an easy task and I do not expect it to be, however my own honest attempt to adhere to 6 months of complete sobriety will reflect equally to its undetermined outcome.

The notion is to bend the mind by choosing a different path to see and learn its outcome.

What can you do to bend your mind?
